Our Story
Carpenter Creek Ranch is located in the beautiful prairie of South Dakota. Our farm is home to a half dozen different species of animals including horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and sheep! Our newest addition is our full-blood Valais Blacknose Sheep and breed-up crosses.
Our EWES
When we started our Valais breed-up program, we decided to go two routes. We purchased a couple Scottish Blackface ewes to pair with full-blood imported Valais semen, hoping to expedite the breed-up process by as the SBF has similar characteristics to the VBN. We also saw some Valais/Babydoll crosses and found them to be adorable. We thought some folks might prefer a smaller and sometimes polled sheep. We also added a full-blood ewe (-1 graded) and ram and will offer some pure Valais in 2025. We want to give you options on how you start your Valais adventure.
Rams/Sires in our program
We currently utilize imported semen in our program. We select Maximum Point Rams to pair with our ewes to breed the best!
